The CBD Reactions with Other Drugs- The Details

Cannabidiol-based products (CBD) nowadays appear to be in great popularity, promising alleviation from many diseases, from sleeplessness and flashes to chronic pain and seizures. Some of these claims have merit, while others are simply hype. But it's not going to hurt trying, right? CBD is a compound that is biologically active and can therefore also have undesirable consequences. These are known adverse reactions of CBD including unintended interactions with additives, herbal products and OTCs and prescription drugs. Nevertheless, CBD oil is one of the popular products now.

Verify Side Effects

CBD may lead to somnolence, lightheadedness, nausea, diarrhea, dry mouth, or in rare cases to damage to your liver, although it is generally considered safe. CBDs may raise the risk of undesirable symptoms or toxic effects by using other medications that have similar side effects. In other words, CBD may lead to greater sleepiness, fatigue, or possibly an accidental falls and accidents while driving, in combination with OTC, or prescription medicinal products and sleeping materials, such as opioids, benzodiazepines, antipsychotics, antidepressants, antihistams (for example, Benadryl).

There can also be increased sedation and tiredness if some herbal supplements, like kava, melatonin and used. Taking CBD with stimulants (like Adderall) can lead to reduced appetite, but it may lead to increased risks of diarrhea by taking CBD with the diabetes medicine metformin or certain heartburn medication (like Prilosec).

Side Effect with Other Drugs

A lot of drugs are broken down by liver enzymes and the drugs called altered concentrations, or CBD, may start competing for or disrupt with these enzymes. In turn, the altered concentration can cause the drug to fail to work or an increased risk of adverse events. Such prescription drugs are usually difficult to predict but can cause serious, unpleasant problems.

Penn State College of Medicine researchers have evaluated existing information on five CBD prescriptions and delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) cannabinoid medications: drugs used during cancer therapy (Marinol, Syndros, Cesamet); drugs used mainly for multiple sclerosis muscle spasms. Overall, 139 drugs that could be affected by cannabinoids were found by the researchers. This list has been further reduced to 57 drugs that could be dangerous for altered concentration. The table includes a range of drugs, from cardiac medications to antibiotics, but not every CBD-only medicine on the list may be affected (some are only affected by THC).
